Contents Cleaning

Navigation:
  • Ultrasonic Cleaning
Most losses require some level of contents cleaning. Our goal is to return the contents in better condition than they were prior to the loss. The cleaning technicians will evaluate each item and determine the best method and products to use in the cleaning. If the insured requests “all green” products or has sensitivity to certain cleaning compounds, our technicians will accommodate the request and use the appropriate cleaning solutions. Our team will use our two ultrasonic cleaning tanks for any fire loss or category 2 -3 water loss.

Deodorization
This process starts during the pack out and continues throughout the contents cleaning process. Using multiple techniques is the key to effective, permanent deodorization. Our technicians begin with a general wipe down to remove the bulk of any odor causing material. For fire losses, all furnishings are wiped down with a Dry Cleaning (Chem) sponge to remove surface soot and fire residue.  Our technicians will use the four primary methods for eliminating odor.

  • Disinfecting / Sanitizing - Using agents that control (biostats) or kill (biocides) odor causing microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, viruses).
  • Pairing / Neutralizing / Counteracting – The combining of deodorizing agents with the malodor molecules making a new odorless compound. We use these pairing agents sometimes with fragrances in smoke loss situations.
  • Sorbing – The use of absorbing compounds to remove malodor.
  • Masking – Using perfumes and fragrances designed to disguise or cover up the malodor.

As content cleaning is completed, the items are then placed in our ozone chamber for an overnight cycle. After the ozone treatment, the contents are evaluated by our technicians and one of three recommendations are made and done.
  • Contents are clean and odor free. The contents are then re-packed and placed in our storage vaults for safe keeping.
  • A second night of ozone cycle is done.
  • Contents cannot be deodorized and the items are set aside for adjuster and the insured.

Why place items in our Ozone Chamber?

Ozone is created during lightning strikes and by the ocean, and it is nature’s way of cleaning the environment. Our ozone generator and chamber is the most effective way to remove most odors. The ozone generator produces a deodorant particle of an atomic size which allows penetration into almost any surface. These particles wash away the odor causing molecules through oxidation. The ozone molecule naturally attaches itself to the malodor and then changes back into breathable oxygen. This oxygenation process is how the odor is permanently removed.

Drying Chamber – Our ozone chamber has a second use when combined with our LGR Dehumidifiers. The chamber is used to dry furniture and other items after a water loss or items that are charred from a fire loss. The chamber is equipped with a LGR dehumidifier and air movers to efficiently dry any item.
